Great Demo – Ad hoc Cognitive Network

January 28, 2011

We had a great demo from two of the students from the Centre for Wireless Communications in the University of Oulu in Finland. Raga and Tuomo’s work is based on the WARP board from RICE University.  The CWC team have what they call a Linux Enriched version of the WARP Board. They have put a network stack on the PowerPCs on the board. The demo itself consists of 4 nodes. One acts as a primary user while the other three form a cognitive network that avoids the primary user. They demonstrate the capability of  the network by transmitting video or making a phone call over the network. Raga and Tuomo demoed their work at Mobicom and it was voted best demo. That is impressive. Mobicom is an excellent conference.
